what exactly are you going for? what kind of builds do you see your character having?

personally, i would go with an elmo but that is just personal preference.

I like El/Mes for the caster intuption and energy management but it's all preferance. El/Mo is good too. And then you can say that you're Elmo.

Anything may work or if your not skilled Everything may not work, in Guildwars no one can make you perfect and no one can be perfect. But to better comes from yourself, Others are guidance but true improvement is from YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!

elementalists have weak armor so you might want to use the monks peotection skills plus you could call you char. the mighty Elmo or any thing like that.

I'm planning to go E/R so I can fight from a distance with both magic and arrows.

El/Ra is certainly a nice idea... but less on the bow attacks and more on skills like Serpent's Quickness, Storm Chaser, or maybe even Healing Spring.

I'm not 100% sure, never played one, myself.

I HAVE played a El/Mes though and I can only say good things. Energy Drain is a gorgeous skills that can power your build. I've talked to a few people about it, and they suggested going heavy on the Mesmer skills and taking a couple Water ones along. They also mentioned that Air is a nice line to play around with.

E/Mo, bah. If you want to heal you do a primary Monk. If you want to do damage you get another secondary. If you want to do both... You're on the wrong track.

I'm a fan of E/Me (energy, disruption) and E/Mo (durability), with the former getting the nod in PvP and the latter in PvE. Necromancer is a decent secondary for the Elementalist, usually for Rend - this combo generally isn't that solid because the Earth and Air lines hose opposing Warriors the same way Curses can.

Ranger adds relatively little to the Elementalist - Serpent's Quickness is the big reason to take this combination. If that doesn't appeal don't bother. Warrior is similarly narrow - you'd be going E/W for the defensive shouts, and if that's what you want you should take a good, hard look at E/Mo.

Peace,
-CxE

I've been doing E/W recently because I've fallen in love with the quick casting, quick recharge PBAoE spells, and as long as I'm going point blank, between spells I might as well whack on them with a sword instead of waving a wand, and you get Hundred Blades with is another good PBAoE...

Gotta love those E/Mo for extra support if needed. They can swing either nuker or support healer.

E/Me can get really annoying if you are a Monk. Drop migraine on the monk, Meteor shower, mark of rodgort can be annoying too. FIRE. How about water and maelstrom arg annoyign.

E/N Hmm intersting. Do you go curses and try weakening the opponent or do you go Blood and use life siphon, life transfer, and vampiric gaze.

Personally, I like the role of being support/disruptor from a distance...closest thing to sniping in the game...An Elementalist/Ranger foots the bill for me. Pin 'em down and rain fire on them and ignite arrows...ouch. FIre! fire...heh, heh.

I've seen people successfully use all of them, but I would caution against using an Ele/Warrior. Because you'll be spending most of your time casting spells, adrenaline won't build up unless you're taking damage. As a primary caster, you'll want to be avoiding that

I had amazing sucess with my Ele/ Monk. I was a geomancer monk and it was awesome, I could deal tons of damage and with that huge energy storage i could heal like crazy. It was by far my favorite charecter ever. And most importantly you dont need to retreat like other elementalists, You can stay pretty much on the front line and deal tons of damage where needed.
